Healthcare Access Program

With the support of the Trottier Foundation, Chez Doris now has a Health Outreach Coordinator, allowing us to strengthen our community health program. This role focuses on recruiting healthcare professionals and interns and developing partnerships to expand access to medical care, screenings, and specialized services for the women of Chez Doris.

A clinic that meets real needs

Chez Doris offers women free access to a wide range of health services, tailored to their realities and often unavailable elsewhere. Our medical clinic provides care for infections, prescription renewals, STI screening, as well as health assessments and follow-ups. We also regularly welcome specialists, including an internist, dental hygienist, optometrist, massage therapist, physiotherapist, and a nurse specialized in foot care.

Since these services rely largely on the generosity of volunteer professionals, we are often seeking new individuals willing to share their time and expertise.

A space for learning and compassion

Our approach is rooted in collaboration, particularly with McGill University. Under the supervision of a clinical nurse, nursing students complete placements with us, providing care while honing their skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Specialized care

With the support of the Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation, Chez Doris has hired a foot care specialist. This service is essential for elderly women and those with mobility challenges, providing basic and preventive care while educating participants on foot hygiene and complication prevention. It is particularly vital for women experiencing homelessness, who are often at higher risk of untreated health issues.
