The Bash Shetty Residence

Located in the Centre Sud neighbourhood, near the Berri UQAM metro station, the Bash Shetty Residence offers a safe, supportive living environment for women who are vulnerable or have experienced homelessness. Housed in a former inn, this permanent residence includes 20 furnished private rooms, each with its own bathroom, as well as shared facilities such as communal kitchens, living rooms, and outdoor terraces.

Accessible housing tailored to women’s needs

The residence is for women aged 18 and over, offering them a calm, welcoming, and structured environment. Rent is set at 25% of each resident’s income, with a cap of $858, with the remainder covered by the Montreal Housing Office.

Daily support and human connection

A team of social workers and security staff is on site at all times. Beyond providing housing, we offer daily support to encourage progressive reintegration: assistance with administrative procedures, health management, organizing household tasks, meal preparation, developing social skills, and participating in community life.

A springboard toward autonomy

Our goal is clear: to support every woman in an environment that fosters personal rebuilding, while respecting her pace, her needs, and her strengths. Because a roof is more than just a shelter, it’s a springboard toward a more stable and independent future.

Hope in action

The Bash Shetty Residence was made possible thanks to the great generosity of Mr. Bash Shetty; a donor deeply committed to supporting women experiencing homelessness. His philanthropic contribution brought this essential project to life, offering dozens of women a safe, stable, and dignified place to live. Today, the residence proudly bears his name in recognition of his profound and enduring commitment. Thanks to him, a new chapter is opening for those who need it most.
