The pre-employment kitchen program at Chez Doris helps women acquire practical cooking skills, along with essential abilities such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving.

This year, the hiring of a participant onto our kitchen team illustrated the program’s success in offering more than just skills: it also instills confidence and provides the support needed to work toward a stable future.

A future built one recipe at a time
This program not only transforms participants—it also changes the way they see themselves. By learning to master culinary techniques, they discover patience, discipline, collaboration, and the joy of creating something with their own hands.
Many women who complete the program go on to pursue further professional culinary training, find employment in the restaurant industry or simply reintegrate into society with greater confidence.
Today, one graduate works in our kitchen and another, who works elsewhere, returns to volunteer as a token of her appreciation for the support Chez Doris brought into her life.
